1934 Goudey Lou Gehrig #37 PSA NM 7. Hall of Famer Lou Gehrig always followed the great Babe Ruth in the New York Yankees lineup. With Ruth batting third, Gehrig was the cleanup hitter and clean up he did. When this 1934 Goudey card featuring "The Iron Horse" was first circulated, Gehrig was just starting to outdistance Ruth's production at the plate, and that's saying something. In that season alone, Ruth put up 22 home runs and drove in 84, Gehrig belted a league-leading 49 round-trippers and knocked in 166 runs. The changing of the guard was in full swing.

The offered 1934 Goudey card featuring the handsome first sacker is considered the most desirable of the 96 different ones found in the company's second-year baseball release. And this example of #37 is an outstanding specimen. Boasting robust colors, the card exhibits four sharp corners and a flawless reverse. In fact, the green text on the card back looks as though it was printed just yesterday. This is a prized collectible stemming from Gehrig's fabled Triple Crown season! Graded PSA NM 7.
