          Graded MINT 9 by PSA, with Autograph Certified and graded GEM MT 10 by PSA/DNA (66304346). Hall of Famer. This is one of only six copies of this piece recorded at this commendable tier in PSA/DNA's census reporting with none graded higher. With their 2003-04 Exquisite Collection hardwood set, Upper Deck changed the basketball card-collecting hobby forever. The set was at once a rejection of the overinflated print runs and under-designed card artworks of late-1980s and early-1990s productions and a continuation of the innovation and artistic sensibilities that flourished in the basketball card industry in the years leading up to the new millennium. With a hotly anticipated 2003 NBA Draft Class making waves in the Association, the venerable manufacturer shifted the paradigm with an ultra-high-end, forebodingly exclusive set brimming with premium autographs and patch components.  Every card in the issue was serial-numbered out of 225 or less; boxes of the product, containing just one five-card pack, sold for $500, an eye-watering sum at the time but one that contemporary collectors would jump at paying considering the amounts that the boxes go for today. Today, conversations around the set usually focus on its glut of upscale rookie cards, but in 2003-04, there was only one player with the sufficient reputation for quality and innovation to help Upper Deck launch this new, daring brand: "His Airness" himself, Michael Jordan.
