Graded NM-MT 8 by SGC, with Autograph Grade 10 by SGC (3056362). Hall of Famer. This is the lone copy of this piece recorded in SGC's census reporting. Four hardwood icons of the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s—Bill Russell, Julius Erving, Magic Johnson, and Larry Bird—share the spotlight on this low-mintage, ultra-high-end Upper Deck Exquisite Collection Endorsements Quad Autographs collectible. Each subject has contributed a gold ink, on-card signature to the cardfront. Russell is the league's greatest-ever champion and perhaps its best defender in history. Selected with the second pick in the 1956 NBA Draft, he proved a league-altering presence, winning 11 NBA Finals titles in his 13 professional seasons, including eight in a row from 1958-59 to 1965-66. Sadly, Russell—who became the NBA's first Black coach in 1966—passed away in 2022 at the age of 88. Erving is best remembered for his accomplishments with the NBA's Philadelphia 76ers, collecting the 1981 NBA MVP Award and winning the 1983 NBA Finals title while dropping only one game throughout the entire postseason. Before joining the NBA in 1976, however, Erving was the face of the ABA during a period when the talent of that league was largely comparable to the more-popular NBA. With the ABA's Virginia Squires and New York Nets, Erving won three consecutive MVP Awards and led the Nets to two ABA titles, asserting his status as one of the most popular players on the planet before he ever stepped on an NBA court. Johnson was the heartbeat of the "Showtime" Lakers of the 1980s, facilitating a historically prolific offense with his unparalleled court vision and playmaking ability. A physical, aggressive forward, Bird had a nearly unguardable inside-outside playstyle; in fact, he was one of the first players to fully utilize the NBA's then-nascent three-point line, which was adopted in the same year as Bird's debut. Together, their contrasting styles and thrilling on-court battles helped reignite the popularity of the NBA after a decade of declining attendance and lackluster television ratings. A statement on the card affirms the manufacturer's guarantee of authenticity for the piece's content and serves as the item's COA. The limited-edition piece is serial-numbered "2/5."
